Material Properties of Aluminum Alloy 3003

Moderate Strength

3003 is a medium-strength alloy that is 10% stronger than alloys in the 1xxx series. While it is not heat-treatable, it is possible to increase hardening through cold working. There are a variety of tempers available. Depending on the cold working method used, mechanical properties like strength can be improved at the cost of plasticity.

High Plasticity And Welding Performance

3003 supplied by Inquivix Technologies has high plasticity, especially in its annealed temper. This makes the foil very easy to be processed into the desired shape of the end product. Container foil needs to be resistant to cracking during the stamping process when it’s shaped into a multi-cavity structure. 3003 foil has the desired strength and elongation properties to be useful here.

Very Good Corrosion Resistance And Dielectric Properties

The oxide layer that forms on the surface of aluminum 3003 foil is what provides corrosion resistance to most types of acids and organic matter.
